In 1994, Hans-Jürgen Mühle left this company to re-found his old family firm as Mühle-Glashütte GmbH Nautical Instruments and Precision Mechanics. Initially, it only manufactured professional marine chronometers, ship clocks and other nautical instruments, but in 1996 Muhle Glashutte also began producing automatic wristwatches.
