Omega De Ville Co-Axial
The Omega De Ville models have provided essential milestones, not only in the chronology of the famous watch manufacturer, but also throughout the history of the entire watchmaking industry.
In 1999, the De Ville Co-Axial was the first Omega watch to be equipped with the groundbreaking Co-Axial calibre. The Co-Axial mechanism was invented by George Daniels and re-defined the mechanical watch movement thanks to less sliding friction in the escapement, greater mechanical efficiency, and outstanding chronometric performance. Furthermore, decreased friction results in less wear on the watch, meaning that the timepiece does not need to be serviced as often.
The exquisite De Ville was the perfect timepiece to be presented with the new hand-wound movement 2500 that was presented in 1999. In 2007, Omega manufactured the automatic calibre 8500, which was one of the first Co-Axial movements to be created in-house. The De Ville was equipped with this new calibre first. A result of these features is the Omega De Ville Hour Vision (Ref. 431.33.41.21.02.001), which is not only characterised by its phenomenal inner workings, but also by its leading and classical design.
