The Calibre 16
The automatic TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 chronograph is one of the top models in the classic Carrera series. There are no quartz models here, just the first-class mechanical watchmaking that's so synonymous with TAG Heuer. Inside, the watch ticks with the powerful calibre 16 based on the Valjoux 7750 movement. Famous for decades, this offers a power reserve of 42 hours.
An unmistakable choice of designs
The Carrera Calibre 16 from TAG Heuer stands out with its multiple styles. As well as classic designs with a retro look, you can also purchase new editions of this racing watch that reveal a modern charm and delicate tachymeter displays. Sporty and elegant with dials and bezels in blue, black, white, or anthracite, the Calibre 16 is one of the most individualistic watches from the Carrera collection. It is particularly appreciated by sporting enthusiasts while classic and vintage fans will enjoy the retro variations: in addition to brown and black leather bracelets, you can also choose a simplified black or white dial.

TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 with 41mm casing
In the 41-millimetre version of the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16, the day of the week is no longer displayed, giving minimalist harmony throughout. The timeless design dispenses with numbers, showing the hours with rhodium-plated indices. With this model, you can choose between the tachymeter bezel or the classic narrow bezel.
While you should expect to pay between £2,000 and £2,500 for models with narrow bezels, you can pay over £2,600 for models with tachymeter bezels. When it comes to the dial colour, there are many more options available. And, of course, limited special editions can also be found on the market. For popular collectables such as the Fangio or the Indie 500, you should expect a price of up to £3,020.
43mm TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 Day-Date display
The Carrera Calibre 16 with a 43mm diameter casing is available in two designs and is notable for its date and weekday display.
Classic version
Thanks to the narrow polished bezel and the model's typical fine seconds scale and Arabic numerals, this version of the Carrera Calibre 16 is perfect for those who prefer classic design. It is available in high-quality stainless steel or alligator leather with prices depending on the material and these can be up to £2,850 for a new model. On the pre-owned market, watches can be found for around £700 or less.
Modern version
The second version of the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 is significantly more modern and adapts to the current zeitgeist in its own unique way. Extremely sporty in style: the bezel is made of ceramic and has a functional tachymeter scale. The chronograph hands are red and the counters have contrasting rings.
For both stainless steel or titanium, the price of this sporty version is around £3,100 for new models. Expect to pay up to £900 less for used watches. If you fancy the special Carrera Monaco Grand Prix version, the price for this collector's item is between £2,900 and £3,900.
Calling sports enthusiasts: racing driver Ayrton Senna's special edition
There's no denying the close connection between TAG Heuer and motorsport. With this special version of the Carrera Calibre 16, however, the Swiss company is making an indisputable statement: both racing drivers and racing fans acknowledge that motorsport goes hand in hand with high emotions. After the tragic accident in 1994, TAG Heuer dedicated a special model to the late Brazilian racing driver, paying tribute to Ayrton Senna. The dial is adorned with a red "Senna-S" and the watch strap also has a motorsport connection: the stainless steel links are "S" shaped. Alternatively, for the titanium model, the rubber bracelet features an unusual tyre look.
This unique special edition of the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 has a price tag of around £2,700 for the stainless-steel casing version and around £2,700 for the titanium model.
